To WSU Neighborhood Advisory Council:
Please be advised that the University’s summer maintenance projects will begin on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, with the closing of Coughlin Athletic Field and its associated track. This early closure – prior to the end of the academic year – is necessitated by the planned replacement of the football field turf, track maintenance, and other improvements to be made to the field and its facilities. In order to meet the timeline for completion of the project prior to the return of students for fall sports in mid-August, the project will launch at the beginning of May.
Please stay tuned for further details regarding this and other campus-wide summer maintenance work – most of which will commence on or about Monday, May 20, 2019. Those projects include roadwork and resurfacing; building systems replacements; and utility work. As will be outlined in a forthcoming communication, these projects – partially underwritten with deferred maintenance funds from the Commonwealth – will be disruptive to the usual vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the University.
The University will nevertheless be operating as normal for summer course offerings and a host of other regular summer activities. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we repair key parts of our infrastructure and systems.
Questions regarding these projects may be directed to Carl A. Herrin, Assistant to the President for International, Community and Governmental Affairs; firstname.lastname@example.org; tel. (508) 929-8263.
